Automated Log Work version 2.0.1 End of Life notice



We want to announce that version 2.0.1 of the “Automated Log Work” add-on will be discontinued on December 31st.

We strongly encourage all customers still using version 2.0.1 to update to the latest and more powerful version 2.1.5.
The update is completely free, and the subscription details, including the amount paid, will remain unchanged.

How to update:

Please visit your “Jira Administration” section > “Add-ons” > “Manage add-ons” > “Automated Log Work for JIRA” and click “Update” button.

Technical details:

RedHat, our infrastructure provider, requires us to migrate the app to the other server with a new URL.
At the same time, Atlassian does not allow to change URL in Marketplace for older versions of the add-on (only newest version can change URL).
It means that we are unable to keep the current URL for Automated Log Work version 2.0.1 (due to RedHat requirements) and at the same time we cannot change it (due to Atlassian Marketplace limitations).

We have discussed the case with Atlassian and RedHat, and there are no technical possibilities to keep version 2.0.1 live.
Therefore, the only way for our customers to continue working with “Automated Log Work” add-on is an update to the latest version 2.1.5.

  1. Will I pay more if I switch from version 2.0.1 to the version 2.1.5?
    No, the update does not affect the price.
  2. Why didn’t Jira update the add-on automatically from version 2.0.1 to the newer?
    The reason is that version 2.1.0 (next one after 2.0.1) requires additional permission in Jira (ACT_AS_USER) and therefore the update requires manual agreement from Jira administrator.
    We have introduced that permission requirement to satisfy very popular feature request, i.e., “log time as a real user in automated mode”. Before that change, time was logged as an add-on user, and it was not possible to generate useful workload reports for real users.
  3. What is the difference between version 2.0.1 and 2.1.5?
    Version 2.1.5 contains several improvements, new features, bug fixes and security fixes when compared to version 2.0.1.
